Crabbing and winter feeders producing well April 09

Winteer springs have been producing well on the backside of Bowen Island as well as between Hut and Bowen are one of your best bets. If the wind is to much try the mouth of the Cap as it has been producing decent numbers and sizes of fish. Winter white hoochies, purple haze and army truck, any spoons in chartreuse, or green. Purple haze flashers have been working good. Herring has been the best bait to use. Salt them up in a heavy brine and add a bit of milk or blueing agent to brighten up your baits. Good luck and tight lines.
Local Rivers are at their Steelhead Peak April 09
March 31, 2009 by rsfat · Leave a Comment
All the local rivers from the Capilano to the Vedder have Steelhead in them. The season is at it’s peak right now. For gear fisherman the best baits to use are dew worms, shrimp (dyed pink), pink plastic worms and colorado blades. Some fish we’ve seen have tipped the scales at 19lbs. For the fly guy’s try using fry patterns, cutthroat, dollies and steelhead will all go for them. Rolled muddlers, alvin, and Christian’s Stickleback pattern have been the best producers. Garry’s whorehouse in pink, black and blue are killer patterns, just make sure you put them on behind a tree.
Local Lakes have been Stocked April 09

All local lakes have been recently stocked with some big broodstock. A lot of these fish that have been put in can tip the scales at up to 8lbs. Lafarge, Como and Sasamat Lakes have been stocked the heaviest. Try micro leeches in brown, black and olive, brown spratelys and pheasant tail nymphs. Lots of Chironomids coming off in size 12- 16′s in black sno-cones, olive and bloodworms. For the spin fisherman try small grubs under floats or power bait off the bottom, try scenting it with either anchovy or herring gel scent from procure.
Interior Lakes Ice fishing April 09

The Interior Lakes are still well frozen over in most places. The best lakes usually contain Brook Trout. The Brookies tend to be much more aggressive in the colder water, and they fish well with bait, jigs, and ice fly’s. The best colours have been chartreuse, pink and white. Try Beaver Dam or Snag Lake they usually are pretty consistent producers. For Rainbows try ruby-eye wiggler attached to a glo-hook with baits such as meal worms or maggots.
Fraser River Picking up for April 09
March 31, 2009 by rsfat · Leave a Comment
The Sturgeon fishing on the Fraser has definitely started to pick up in the last few weeks. Try using Eulachons, dew worms, or roe bags. The upper Fraser is fishing fair for cutthroat, rainbows and dollies. Try fishing the backwaters and slough for success. The fry are starting to hatch out of the gravel so use egg and eye patterns and alvins in natural and olive colours. Olive muddlers and stickleback patterns are also good right now. For the gear fisherman small silver spinners such as #2 bluefox, silver ultrasonic from strike zone are sure slammers, as well as your confidence lures, fire stripe crocs and Mepps spinners are good bets.
