BC Boat & Sportsmen’s Show and BC Hunting Show
March 5, 6 & 7th 2010
Come join Riverside Fly & Tackle at the show that sets the industry standards. Retailers & manufacturers, ATV’s & accessories, lodges & resorts, boats of all sizes, motors & trailers, camping gear, outdoor products, hunting gear & equipment, camo clothing, and anything else you need to enjoy our great outdoors. For more info contact us @ 604-944-2479 or stop by the shop.

Join Riverside for our Sturgeon Derby on November 1st 2009. The entrance fee is $30.00 per rod. The derby borders will be between Whonnock dock and the Mission Bridge. As with last year we will meet at Duncan Bar at 8:30 am. We will assign boat numbers at that time and draw numbers for the order of people leaving the beach. We will also be giving out the phone numbers to contact once you have a fish on. When you get a fish call in a marshall to come verify the fish. Only call if you think the fish is over 4 feet. We don’t want to be measuring a bunch of little guys and miss the oppurtunity to measure a big one, plus a fish under four feet definitely won’t be taking the money prize. The derby will be over at 3pm. Any fish to be measured must be called in no later than 3 pm, and no fish not landed by 4 pm will be entered, so if you have a big one work him hard and quick. We will be once again meeting at Mission Springs Pub at 5pm to hand out prizes and cash to the winners, Mission Springs has told me they will have extra staff on hand to handle the orders, not to worry. If you plan on going to the pub before 5 pm please let us know. For any other questions please call (604-944-2479) and to sign up come see us in the shop.

Riverside Fly and Tackle is proud to be able to offer the True Hero Series
In recognition of the everyday heroes who patrol our streets, answer our calls for help, and protect our freedom, Fetha Styx Fishing Rods is proud to announce the release of the “True Hero Series” of high-quality fishing rods.
The “True Hero” line includes 9 special-edition models of custom graphite and fiberglass rods, each of which reflects the unique personality of police and fire professionals throughout the U.S. and Canada. Each of the 9 models – which include rods designed for trout, bass, travel, salmon/steelhead, sturgeon, general saltwater and travel – will be available with reel seats, butt caps, guide inserts and wraps in distinctive red for fire professionals and blue for members of police organizations. Each rod will also be emblazoned with custom artwork and logos that recognize the various services. Also, we can customize the rods to have a badge number, name, fire house, etc. inscribed onto the blank to personalize your rod.
Retail price on these rods will range from $360 to $540, but Fetha Styx is offering the “Hero” series at a reduced cost ($180 to $250) to Firefighters and Police Officers only, and will donate $10 from the sale of every rod to non-profit organizations who assist the families of police and fire professionals killed in the line of duty.
“As a whole, our Fetha Styx family is PROUD to give back to those who have given so much. This is a very personal project to all of us. Many of our friends and family have served, and some have fallen. We will never forget OUR true heroes.
Due to the high interest, we will be taking pre-orders through Fetha Styx, starting March 16th, 2009. The “True Hero” series will be officially launched at the 2009 World Police and Fire Games in Vancouver, B.C. in August.

RIVERSIDE FLY AND TACKLE’S STURGEON DERBY 2008
First of all we would like to thank everyone for coming out and having a good time. Second we would like to thank Mike Mitchell from BC Outdoors for all his help and advice as well as for the donations, and for volunteering his time and boat to be one of our weigh masters. Things started off pretty slow but then they started to pick up around slack tide. A monster of a fish was hooked just before the end of the Derby and the guy’s did their best to bring the fish to hand but it unfortunately broke them off after 2 1/2 hours. First place was taken by Jeff King and his 91 1/2 inch fish. First prize was $2015.00, not bad for 6 hours fishing! Second place was taken by his Captain, John Benedictson and his 87 1/4 inch fish. Second prize was a Trophy XL Royale Sturgeon Rod donated by Redyl Sports. Third place was taken by Mike Gee and his 84 inch fish. Third prize was a Protac Coachman Sturgeon rod donated by Inland Dist. and a Amundson GFW5000 reel donated by Amundson Outdoor Prod. Lots of other door prizes were given away and we sold a ton of raffle tickets for a custom Fetha Styx Sturgeon rod. We would like to thank all our sponsors and most importantly all of you who came out to make this a great event, we had a total of 67 rods out this year. We hope to see you all again next year along with some new faces.
